Academic Coaching: What it is, why it is needed, how it has grown, and the direction it is going

Eley, T. C. & M. Poljak

Academic Coaching supports students in creating their own organizational system; improving self-management; finding relevant resources on campus; improving their intentionality in their emotional, behavioral, and social life; and raising their metacognitive awareness. In our poster, we will explain why we are needed, the program’s growth over the past five years, the services that are offered, and the technology that we have utilized to improve our services. The poster will show visual representations of data, diagrams of the systems within Academic Coaching, and a diagram of the workflow of students entering into our program to aid in understanding what happens at Academic Coaching. We plan to create an active participatory environment by having attendees: take quizzes about our services, engage in reflection so that they can understand the full range of our services, and use a prototype of our new student management system that we created using Google Suite.
